Carol was awarded the UWC scholarship to study International Baccalaureate at the Pearson College in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada 2007.
She studied and lived with a wonderful community of 200 students from 100 different nationalities in an effort to foster world peace.

She graduated from the University of Nairobi in 2013 with a 1st Class Honours in Bachelor of Science Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
For her final year project, Carol designed a photovoltaic solar farm to supply electricity to her rural village in Kauma, Homabay County, Kenya.

Carol Ofafa completed her M.Sc. Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Management at the University of Glasgow where she was exemplary and received the Graduate Award for leadership.
Her research focused mainly on the Risk Management strategies employed by transmission utilities in construction of transmission infrastructure.
Climate Financing for Sustainable Energy Transition in Africa (Accra, Ghana, Jul 2023)
Carol provided training on climate finance and presented a case study on electric mobility as an anchor for productive uses of renewable energy, based on E-Safiri.
Policy Dialogue: Renewable Generation and Regional Power Trade in Africa (Madrid, Spain, February 2023)
Carol participated in the Policy Dialogue: Renewable Generation and Regional Power Trade in Africa. The event took place during the SPIREC International Renewable Energy conference organised by REN21, RES4Africa, Tony Blair institute, ENEL foundation and others.
Angaza Africa (November 2022)
E-Safiri was announced in COP-27 as one of the beneficiaries of the Energy Catalyst round-9 funding for their project Angaza in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian university and Alexander De Courcy. The project will use a hybrid wind and solar turbine for productive uses including powering electric bikes, cold storage and electrification.
SUN-RUN (P4G Partnerships) (October 2022)
The partnership comprising E-Safiri, KIRI EV, Glasgow Caledonian University and Sustainable transport Africa, was awarded over $130,000 to build electric mobility ecosystem for rural Kenya.
The partnership seeks to include women in viable business models within the EV ecosystem and introduce EVs into rural mobility using pay-go systems, tackling SDG 7 through use of renewable energy solutions to power charging infrastructure.
ISIGET (Online, March 2022)
Carol participated in the working group exploring energy transition for the global south organized by the ISIGET research team.
African Union Youth Start-Up Pavilion (Durban, South Africa, November 2021)
Carol, together with her co-founders at E-Safiri were selected by The African Union Commission as one of the 150 Youth Start-ups winners to participate at the African Union Youth Start-Up Pavilion at the African Union's International Trade Fair in Durban, South Africa.
At the event, E-Safiri participated in the hackathon that provided partnerships with other African founders to further develop electric mobility in the continent.
McKinsey and Manufacturing Africa Pilot Project (Nairobi, November 2021)
E-Safiri participated amongst six other electric mobility start-ups as the charging partner for a McKinsey and Manufacturing Africa Pilot Project. The 2-week pilot provided insights on the need to solve range anxiety for electric bike riders. The pilot ran from 25th October to 5th November 2021 in Nairobi.
The pilot validated the economics of going electric in that riders made 35% more owing to savings on charging and maintenance. Riders who have tried electric motorbikes are highly likely to buy and recommend then but have range anxiety. Therefore, building charging infrastructure is very important for riders who go up to 130km a day. This is a problem that E-Safiri in partnership with EV assemblers is looking to tackle.
Smart Cities Innovation Program (Kigali, Rwanda, November 2021)
Carol was selected as one of the young African founders for the Smart cities Innovation Program that saw 31 founders within smart mobility, fintech and smart housing in Africa through a virtual bootcamp and resident bootcamp in Kigali, Rwanda.

Carol was selected as finalist for the MGA awards where she presented her project on renewable energy to curb the effects of COVID -19 for health centres in Africa. Her work was featured in a publication by BusinessGhana.

Carol's start-up, E-Safiri, was one of the 10 companies selected to participate in the Women in
Tech incubation programme, organised by Standard Chartered Bank and iBiz Africa.
The programme will provide mentorship and networking opportunities for scaling the business, as well as the potential to win a US $10,000 grant.
Better Cities Challenge (Nairobi, Oct 2020)
Carol was among the 25 researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs who participated in the Better Cities Challenge organised by Zuhura-Africa. The bootcamp
provided a networking platform for like-minded innovators as well as a training on prototyping, business models, ideation and finally a pitch to investors and a panel of judges.
Carol was the team lead for a pitch on e-mobility charging infrastructure, that went to win the competition and four months incubation of the idea at Waridi Hub courtesy of Zuhura Africa.
Open Africa Power (Ethiopia, Feb 2019)
Carol was among 60 young Africans in Energy selected to participate in the Open Power Africa Fellowship program, sponsored by Enel Foundation.
As part of the program, she underwent rigorous training on the regulations for universal access to energy by the Florence School of Regulation.
She researched a capstone project and proposed a stand-alone solar charging station for electric motor bicycles in Malindi, Kenya.
Risk Management in Infrastructure Development (University of Glasgow, Aug 2018)
Carol undertook research on risk management by transmission utilities in a paper called "An investigation on risk management strategies employed by transmission utilities in construction of electricity transmission infrastructure".
This research was part of her Master's Degree at the University of Glasgow.
Wind Turbine Farm Design (Great Cumbrae Island, Feb 2018)
Carol was the Lead Electrical Engineering Designer for the Integrated System design project.
The project involved participation of 7 members from different Engineering disciplines.
Together, they designed a wind turbine farm to supply all the electrical needs of Great Cumbrae Island, in North Ayrshire, Scotland, University of Glasgow.
Collaborative Design Challenge (University of Glasgow, Dec 2017)
In 2018, Carol participated in the Collaborative Design Challenge, and worked as part of a technical team to design an Interactive inter-disciplinary collaborative system for researchers called Co.Lab, at the University of Glasgow.
Solar Photovoltaic Network Design (Homabay County, Kenya, May 2013)
In pursuit of her Bachelor's Degree, Carol undertook research & design of the standalone photovoltaic solar farm in Kauma Village, Homabay County, Kenya.
The project was targeted at 200 residents of the village who hadn't yet been connected to the national electrical grid.
