Carol represented E-Safiri at London Tech Week, as part of a cohort of high-growth African startups supported by the UK-Kenya Tech Hub, through the GrowthPath Market Linkages Programme implemented by POV. Ambassador Makoloo Maurice, High Commissioner of Kenya to the United Kingdom, alongside Anthony William Catt, Brett Thompson, and Oussama LESSIS.

The event, held from 8th to 12th June 2026, gave African startups the chance to connect with investors and industry leaders in the UK. E-Safiri operates a solar-powered Battery-as-a-Service platform in Western Kenya, recording 24.5x revenue growth over 21 months and serving 150+ daily customers across 4 hubs.

Carol alongside Daniella Ngarambe, Keno Shiferaw, Charly Gatete, as part of the African School of Regulation, facilitated the first of three days of a consultative workshop to bolster the framework for cross-border strategic cooperation for skill sharing in the African energy sector.

The workshop was organised by the African Energy Commission of the African Union (AFREC) in partnership with Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) and the African Development Bank Group, and took place in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire. It ran from the 9th to the 14th December, 2024.

The African School of Regulation (ASR) together with CLASP, a world leader in promoting energy efficient appliances, co-organised a webinar on the Role of Appliance Regulation in a Growing Energy Market. Carol, representing ASR, hosted the event and was joined by a panel made up of the team members from CLASP including Ruth Kimani, Anne Muhonja, Angellah Wekongo, and Veronica Nkooyio, and Hassid Okumu from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority in Kenya.

Africa's energy demand is set to increase in the coming future due to population growth, and economic development. A sustainable solution for appliances such as refrigerators and air conditioners that consume significant electricity can be created by improving their energy efficiency.

Through their presentation, the CLASP team highlighted the importance of appliance regulation, successful appliance regulation programs, appliance regulation in Africa and how it can be improved, as well as the strategies for collaboration with stakeholders to develop the proper regulatory framework.

Carol Awour was part of the 'Green hydrogen in India and opportunities with Europe' event alongside Lucila de Almeida from FSR moderated by Swetha Ravi Kumar from FSR Global.

The discussion analysed the opportunities for synergies between the EU and India, together with Abhinav Jindal, Senior Researcher and Energy Economist and the author of the recently published paper: At scale adoption of Green Hydrogen in Indian Industry: Costs, subsidies and policies, which focuses on some of the crucial aspects to be considered in the case of India.

Carol Ofafa was part of the expert panel in the Unlocking Africa’s Sustainable Future event, organized by IAI with the partnership of Eni.

The event focused on advancing climate diplomacy in Africa within the context of the G7 framework. The conference explored the challenges to addressing climate change in Africa and the role of the G7 as a platform for designing solutions and committing support to the region, promoting climate diplomacy. It also highlighted the role of private sector involvement in mobilizing resources necessary for the continent’s transition.

The event focused on exploring the intricate political economy governing energy regulation across Africa, drawing insights from the book ‘Energy Regulation in Africa’ authored by Dr. Ishmael Ackah and Dr. Charly Gatete.
